With the beautiful weather and no rain on the horizon, January looks like it will be a great month to get out and enjoy all that the City has to offer!  Below are a few of the events we are most excited about for January 2015.

Make sure you download the Spectafy app for Android or iOS and see what’s happening before you leave your house!

14th Annual “No Pants” BART Ride Day

If you have a secret public nudity fetish, hop on BART on January 11th without your pants! This event is put on by Improv Everywhere and happens simultaneously in cities nationwide. The idea is to keep a straight face and pretend like nothing out of the ordinary is going on, that way other riders will just think you must have had a stroke after breakfast. Hilarious! I’ll be checking the Spectafy app for photos!

25th Annual Return of the Sea Lions at Pier 39

Welcome the sea lions back to Pier 39 January 16th to 19th! Apparently they started showing up in 1989 after the earthquake and decided it was a great place to lay around and bark, so they’ve been back ever since. There will be free walking tours between 11 am and 4 pm each day if you want to learn more about these cool sea critters.

Treasure Island Flea Market

SNOW!!! This monthly flea market will be going down January 24th and 25th at Treasure Island, and they are importing 20 tons of snow! Come on out and make a snowman, and stay for 400+ vendors, 25 food trucks, and live music! If your kids get bored of the snow, or if you just really like goats (I know I do), there is also a petting zoo, pony rides, magic shows, and other fun stuff to keep you busy.

The de Young

Keith Haring’s “The Political Line” exhibit is up at the de Young Museum. Come down and enjoy 130+ pieces of art. You can check out a sample of his work here. It has been almost 20 years since Haring had an exhibit on the west coast, and he has some pretty cool stuff.

The de Young also has free admission on the first Tuesday of the month, which will be January 6th. Save yourself $10 and head on out!

Live Music

There is all kinds of live music in the City this January. A few of our favorites are Matt Costa, who will be playing with G Love and Special Sauce at the Fillmore on the 22nd and Bush, who will be playing at the Masonic on January 30th. The Wailers are playing at the Independent January 29-31 if you need your Marley fix!

We hope to see you out and about this month!
